Hello, I’m Michael Skehan.

Great Guitars has been part of my life for many years — first as a business, then as a passion project, and now as a quiet, personal space in retirement. What began as a dealership has gradually evolved into something different: a collection of instruments I’ve enjoyed, restored, researched, and preserved.

I’m no longer operating with an ABN, and I’m no longer trading or buying stock. Instead, this site now reflects a slower, more enjoyable chapter of life — one where I can focus on the instruments themselves rather than the business around them.

Many of the guitars shown here are pieces I’ve collected over decades: historic Spanish workshop instruments, early Japanese builds, National resonators, and various unique or unusual finds. Some are complete, some need work, and some will become part of my ongoing restoration projects, which I’ll document here over time.

Although I’m retired from commercial trading, I still make selected instruments available for private sale. If you see something that interests you, simply contact me directly. There’s no pressure, no formal process — just a conversation between enthusiasts.
