1960’s (63-65) Vintage HOFNER Model 164 Colorama series
1960’s German made HOFNER
Electric guitar Embossed ‘Croc’ skin vinyl White covering.
Black neck. Lovely red rosewood fingerboard with frets in VGC.
Black pickguard
2 x Hofner Diamond logo pickups.
These pickups were fitted in Hofner guitars from 1961-1963
Volume control for each pickup
One tone control.
All functioning well.
Quite a rare model to come across. Rarely seen.
This appears is quite good mostly original condition except having changed Vol / Tone pots at some stage. All other parts, tuners, pickups, knobs and bridge and tailpiece are all correct.
Slight shrinkage to the vinyl cover along the black joining seam but really, as I have seen a few of the vinyl covered models over the years and this one has to be considered Very Good.
A couple of photos have been included further down the page to show a close up of the embossed texture of the croc or snake skin.
The guitar plays well, ( Has just been fully serviced ) sounds vintage, has a hardcase and even comes with an original SELMER leather guitar strap.
